Hello there, and happy Thursday…oh, and if you’re new here, welcome! Last week the very first block of the Jelly Snowflake Mystery Quilt was released! I’ll be sharing last weeks block as well as this weeks block…but first just a few things to know if you’re just barely joining in!
The Jelly Snowflake Quilt Along is a free quilt pattern and video series brought to you by Fat Quarter Shop that will be posted every Thursday during July. I personally love making holiday quilts early so that I have plenty of time to display and use them by the end of the year! The videos will show you how to put your blocks together and are going to be very helpful to new quilters. You can find the videos here.
This years pattern uses just one Jelly Roll. Fat Quarter Shop is using Christmas Figs II by Joanna Figueroa while I’ll be using Homegrown Holidays by Deb Strain. If you’re looking for the fabric requirements you can find them here!
Last weeks block pattern was so much fun! My mom, Sherri of A Quilting Life, hosted the first weeks block. Be sure to check out her blog post here for a very detailed post. These blocks use easy piecing and go together quickly. You can find the download for the first weeks block here. Also, I really love the cute trucks and trees in the fabrics I used in my block. Deb Strain has such a great knack for designing holiday collections.
If you know me well then you know I absolutely love star blocks. The very first quilt I ever made was a star block pattern and my love for them has grown ever since! There are so many variations that keep it interesting when designing with them so I had no complaints when I saw this weeks block!
You can find this weeks block over at Bev McCullough’s blog, Flamingo Toes. Bev always uses super fun color combo’s and I love her sense of style!
These blocks went even quicker than last weeks! If you’re a newer quilter this is a great quilt along to join in on. It also helps to have other quilter’s sharing their blocks and experiences. It makes things really fun when you have a community of people all sewing at the same time and sharing their different perspectives.
Thanks for visiting my blog today and I hope to see you again soon! You’ll be able to find the Week 3 block right here next Thursday! Be sure to stop by so you can download the pattern! Pat Sloan will be hosting Week 4 and be sure to give here some well wishes after her surgery she just had…you can find her blog here.
Happy sewing friends and can’t wait to see you soon! If you want to listen in and watch another fun new adventure, my mom (A Quilting Life) and myself just started a new podcast! You can find us on YouTube here! We share new favorites and old finds, talk about upcoming fabric collections and projects, and share stories we hope you’ll love to hear!
